Sophie Ouellette m. Edouard Bedard ca. 1850
I'm seeking information about Sophie Ouellette (born about 1821), who was married to Edouard Bedard (born about 1823). Varying sources show that Sophie was born in either Quebec or Maine. Sophie and Edouard are my ggggrandparents. I am also seeking information on the birth family, location, etc. of Marie-Celanire Delvina/Delphine Fortier, wife of Nazaire Bedard (Edouard and Sophie's son). Delvina and Nazaire are my gggrandparents.
According to the 1881 Canadian Census for Ste-Henedine, Dorchester, Quebec, Sophie and Edouard Bedard had the following children living with them:
Sifroid Bedard, born about 1852 in Quebec.
Other sources indicate that Sifroid died 9/16/1896 in Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. He was married to Marie Dion (b. 6/20/1859 in Quebec, d. 4/15/1934 in Adams, Bershire County, Massachusetts) at Ste-Henedine, Dorchester, Quebec on 9/5/1873.
Prudent Bedard, born about 1857 in Quebec.
Other sources indicate that Prudent was born in Ste-Henedine, Dorchester, Quebec in November of 1855 and died 10/29/1936 in Alpena, Michigan. He was married to "Rose" (born 4/1853 in New Hampshire) at Ste-Henedine on 8/15/1865.
Nazaire Bedard, born about 1859 in Quebec.
Nazaire is my gggrandfather. He was born 5/11/1856 in Ste-Henedine, Dorchester, Quebec and died 11/3/1937 in Indian Reserve, Alpena County, Michigan. He was buried 11/6/1937 at Holy Cross Cemetary in Alpena, following services at St. Mary's Church in Indian Reserve. He was married to Marie-Celanire Delvina Fortier at Ste-Marguerite, Dorchester, Quebec on 7/18/1876. Delvina was born 6/20/1853 in Quebec and died 4/3/1930 at Indian Reserve, Alpena County, Michigan. I have no information on her parents.
Pierre Bedard, born about 1864 in Quebec.
Other sources indicate that Pierre was born 8/22/1865 in Quebec and died 1/17/1955. He was married to Cecelia M. or Delena (born about 1883 in Michigan) around 1920, presumably in Michigan.
Larie Bedard, born about 1867 in Quebec.
Other sources indicate that Larie was married to Pamela Kerouac (born about 1870 in Canada, died 12/11/1948).
I don't have information on other children, I suspect that there were more.
Sifroid, Prudent and Nazaire were married at the time of the 1881 Canadian Census, but their wives were not living with this family. Given that Edouard appears as a widower by the 1900 US Census for Alpena, Michigan, and indicates in this census and the 1910 US Census that he entered the US between 1880-82, it's possible that the boys were at home at the time of the 1881 Canadian Census in order to see Sophie before she passed.
If any of this sounds familiar, please share what you have. I have more info and would be happy to share it with you.
Thanks so much,
Kellie
