William Hatch, the first of the name in America, and one of the earliest settlers of Scituate, Mass., was a native of Sandwich, county of Kent, England, from which place he emigrated to New England in 1633.In the course of a year or two, he went back to England for his family, and returned in March, 1635, in the ship "Hercules" with his wife Jane, 5 children and 6 servants.He was a merchant of ability and first ruling elder of Scituate's second church which was founded in 1644.He was also a lieutenant of militia.He died in Scituate Nov. 6, 1651.Children of William & Jane, all born in England:
1.Jane, married John Lovell
2.Anne, married 1643 Lieutenant James Torrey

5.William, died in Virginia about 1646.He married Abigail Hewes and had one child, Phebe.

Walter Hatch, shipwright, son of Wiliam above, was born in England about 1625 and died in Scituate, Mass. in March, 1701.He married first May 6, 1650 to Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Holbrook of Weymouth and married second at Marshfield on Aug. 5, 1674 to Mary -- (the name is obliterated on the records).No issue by the second wife.Children of Walter and Elizabeth, all born in Scituate:

4.Antipas, b. Oct. 26, 1658; died unm. Dec. 7, 1705

Samuel Hatch, son of Walter above, farmer and shipwright, died in June 1735 in Scituate, age 81.Name of wife not known.Children, all born in Scituate:

8.Ezekiel, b. May 14, 1695
9.Desire, b. Sept. 25, 1698; m. 1731 to Joseph Lovell

Actually, in the Marshfield, Mass. records,a the name of Walter's second wife, Mary isn't totally obliterated.Her last name ends in "stable".It's probably Constable, or something similar.
