Dearborn was once a town in Kennebec County, incorporated in 1812. Parts were set off to Waterville in 1815, to Belgrade in 1839, and to Smithfield in 1840. The remainder, deorganized as a town in 1841 and reorganized as Dearborn Plantation, was annexed to Waterville in 1843.
