There were two Simmons families that came to Waldoboro in the mid 1700s. They are connected way back, but it becomes confusing trying to separate the two lines in Waldoboro.
One immigrant was Jehiel Simmons and the other was Nathaniel Simmons. If your Simmons family had connections with the islands in Broad Bay near the Waldoboro/Friendship town lines then they are probably from Jehiel.
If they were located more in the Waldoboro/Nobleboro area then they probably are from Nathaniel.
