You are quite right about 1784. Roland Collier was born in that year (1784) in MA. His father and mother, Gershom and Abigail (Nash) Collier, first brought the family from MA to Islesboro in 1796 and then to Northport a couple of years later.
As an adult, Roland met and married Lois Newhall (b. 2/2/1793 in Union, ME -- dau. of Jonathan and Hannah (Peabody) Newhall) on 5/12/1814.
They established their family in Washington, ME, possibly because Lois Newhall's parents lived there. I show Jonathan Newhall dying 2/24/1826 in Washington, ME, as well as Hannah (Peabody) Newhall dying 1/6/1836 in Washington, ME. The 1830, 1840 and 1850 Census images of Washington, Lincoln Co. (now Knox Co.), ME, all bear this supposition out.
Anyway, thanks for your response about the Union history found in "Come Spring."
