I believe I got most of that information from a book called "Matinicus Isle, Its Story and It's People" by Charles A.E. Long, 1926. I have a lot more Hall information if you are interested.

You can get to Matinicus by airplane, I think there is still air service by Telford Aviation from Owls Head.
