Sarah,

I am old school until there is proof, I consider the unproven as people of interest. When researchers jump to conclusions it may create a snowballing effect of misinformation that sometimes will get out of control on sites like this one.

I remember Ray Robbins he was just as cranky as I am about this subject. As I recall a lot of his info., at least the Tinker Is. Tinkers, came from the same person's letter I referenced in my earlier post cousin Beth Wescott.

As for family history books, beware, I have found numerous mistakes and wishful thinking in more than a few so that info. must be also scrutinized.
