In an earlier message, I asked if anyone knew who Mrs. Josephine Fly(e) was married to and since then, I believe I found her husband but still need to know more about him. In an 1870 Census, taken in San Francisco at a boarding house, I found seven people living there, including two from Maine: "Rewben" Fly, age 38, and his wife, Josephine, age 31, who was keeping house. Reuben, who worked in a wood and coal yard, estimated his real estate at $1,500. I think Reuben's wife, Josephine, decided to spend the rest of her life calling herself a married woman, but living as a housekeeper with a Sedgwick man, Henry Byard, son of Hezekiah and Maria Byard, who left Maine and ended up in Humboldt County, dying there sometime after the 1920 census-taker dropped by to chat. Josephine was last with Henry, at age 70, in the 1910 Census for Humboldt County. Does anyone know who Reuben and Josephine were? Thanks for your help!
