I have a photocopy of a newpaper article that was posted in the Eastern Argus, Vol. XXIII -No. 164, pg. 2
Date: Saturday, July 14, 1860.
Portland, Maine, USA

"Capt. Jonathan Hamer of Eden, was found dead in the hall of his house, on Sunday morning last, about sunrise. He worked all day on Saturday, and went to bed in the evening in his usual health. He evidently just left his sleeping room. He was about 60 years. old."

I am not related to this family. I have no other information.

I hope that this information can be of help to someone.
