Hi Alice --

I am a direct descendant of Thomas Collier, who settled in Hingham, MA, in 1635. Both the Lorings and the Lincolns are also from this small area (Hingham/ Hull/ Cohasset/ Weymouth/ Braintree) and are also directly descended from this same Thomas Collier. This is also the Lincoln family from which Abraham Lincoln sprung, although I am not related to his branch. I don't know if this will help you at all, but there is a fairly good Loring genealogy somewhere and I think (but am not sure) there is also a good one on the Lincolns. I wrote this just to give you another possibility to consider. I thought that you might have some success if you started with a likely immigrant ancestor and worked forward. Best of luck in your quest.
