There are several James Brackett listings on my tree and two or three are of the ages to have been in the WBTS (Civil War.)
I would be very interested in tying anyone of them to your James S. Brackett. Can you give me more information on him?
I have a James Shaw Brackett, b. June 20, 1810, d. 1877 buried in the Athearn Cemetery, Anson, Maine. He m. 1833 Eunice Dinsmore, b. October 8, 1813 d. March 28, 1882. this James would have been too old for the war. He had a son, James N. Brackett, b. 1839, d. in 1887, but I don't think he is the one either.
I have hundreds of Brackett family members all tied together; with one, Dr. Adino Nye Brackett, who moved from N.H. to down here in Virginia in the 1850s.
