The 1933 city directory shows wives as Henri (Catherine) and R. Eugene (Josephine). Henri and family were living in Portland, with a summer place in South Portland, Eugene and family living in Cape Elizabeth. Oscar was living in the Lafayette Hotel in Portland; no spouse is shown.

(The American Olymic marathoner Joan Benoit Samuelson is from Cape Elizabeth and I believe she is related to these
Benoits, although I do not remember how closely.)

The only other Benoit in the 1933 directory is a Ronald (wife Beulah M). He was employed by a barrel company so no obvious link to the clothing merchants.

You mentioned the 1920 and 1930 censuses. I checked my 1910 index and did not find any of these Benoits.
