Portland 1887 info needed

Does anyone know how to obtain any of these?
*Ships lists: Portland ME 1887 from ENG
*Court records for guardian appointments 1900, Portland
*Chestnut Street United Methodist Church records (I have already contacted them with no luck)

My gggrandparents, JOHN MORRIS (b.1842 Wales, d.1900 Portland) and ELIZABETH HUGHES (b.1848 Wales d.1897 Portland) immigrated to Portland in 1887 along with their 2 daughters, ELIZABETH CONSTANCE MORRIS & HARRIETTE AGNES HUGHES MORRIS. John & Elizabeth d. by 1900 and the girls were appointed a guardian by the name of KNOWLTON. I believe they belonged to the same church (Chestnut St. Methodist).
I have searched all ship's lists I could find on the web. I can't seem to find much for Portland for this period. Does anyone know where I'm likely to find more info? I do live in Maine, but have no idea where the best place to go is- the ME State Archives, Augusta? ME Historical in Portland? Thanks in anticipation, Joan Rines
