Howard Lawrence Hopkins

Hello all,

I am looking for anyone with information and/or knowledge of an elusive Hopkins family member that has been a total puzzle in tracing (let alone get information on his father's line).
My wife's grandfather was Howard Lawrence Hopkins b. 28 Nov 1902 in Mechanic Falls, Androscoggin, ME. son to James Clifford Hopkins and Elsie Maude Walker. Howard married in Mechanic Falls to Bessie May Hosley on 5-20-1930. Elsie died 12-22-1902 from pneumonia. No knowledge of where she is buried. I have searched but have only found dead-ends.
Howard (a cattle farmer) was known as "Hopey" aka Laurence H. Clark (listed in 1910 US Census of Mechanic Falls). I cannot find where he is in 1920 and 1930 US Census for any state in the US. He is not listed by any names I have knowledge of which includes, the surname Herrick. Anyone know where he was? He is also not in any military records anywhere, including World War One Draft Registration.
Howard re-married to whom I was told by my mother-in-law (now deceased) was an Abigail Young ca. June 1957 and he died 15 July 1974 in Gorham, NH.
His father, James Clifford Hopkins is just as much a puzzle. He was known as Clifford Hopkins and married at least four times. He is said to have been from Nova Scotia (listed as such on Howard's birth record and marriage record). Anyone with information on both of these Hopkins subjects, please let me know. Both of these Hopkins seem to have vanished at different points during their lifetimes.
I am willing to share any information I have to update any of your records. Thanks!
Ernie of Oxford, Maine
