Looking for more info about Silas Stevens, his parents, and descendents:

About 1895, William Dale, a son of Charles G. Dale and Mary Anne (Fleming), married Winifred Stevens. Both were from Pocomoke City, Worcester County, Maryland, but lived in Philadelphia, PA. They had two children, a son Charles W., and a daughter, Mary Louise.

In 1900, William Dale and Winifred were living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Housemates of theirs were his younger brother, Charles R. Dale, and two cousins, Will T. and Frank Fleming, of Tasley, Accomack County, Virginia, who both worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. They were sons of William F. Fleming, a brother of William Dale's mother.

William Dale's wife, Winifred Stevens, born in May 1874, died April 9, 1901. Her remains were shipped back to Pocomoke City, Maryland, for burial (need burial info). Winifred appears to have been a child of Silas Stevens and his wife Mary P. In 1870, Silas was the saloon keeper in Pocomoke City, Maryland. He died between 1880 and 1900.

Silas Stevens' mother's name was Henrietta. She was widowed about 1850. Other children of Henrietta's were Elizabeth, born ca 1830, Mary, born ca 1832, Henrietta, b. ca. 1836, Francis L., b. ca. 1845 and Julia, b. ca. 1850.

Silas Stevens' widow, Mary P. Stevens, moved with her daughters to Philadelphia some time before 1900, and they lived a few doors away on the same block of N. Park Ave. as William Dale and Winifred. Besides Winifred, the other Stevens children were Mary, born ca 1868, Emily B, probably aka Bertha, b. ca. 1872, and Margaret, b. ca 1878. Mary P. Stevens also had a nephew, Frank Clark, b. ca 1878, who lived with her in Philadelphia in 1910.

After the 1901 death of their mother, the two children of William Dale and Winifred Stevens may have become members of their grandmother Mary P. Stevens' household. They are likely to be the Charles and Louise "Stevens", ages 11 and 13, in Mary Stevens' Philadelphia home in 1910, listed as her grandchildren. The son, Charles Dale, may be the one in 1920 living in Valley Twp., Chester County PA, a carpenter, age 22 (born PA, parents b. MD), with wife Bessie, 23.

We are hoping to learn who Silas Stevens' parents were, who his wife Mary P. was, and to locate descendents of the two children of William Dale and Winifred Stevens.
