Linda:

I found a bit more today about Westchester in Sussex. A book, "History of Delaware, 1609-1888" by John Thomas Scharf, published in 1888, mentions, "West Chester, a tract of 900 acres, on the northeast side of Love's Creek was deeded to John Crew by Francis Cook, September 3, 1700" I found this by goggling "land patent, westchester, sussex co, de" The URL is just too long to copy down.

You mentioned John Crew was a relative.

I don't know where Love's Creek in Delaware is (or was). Possibly this Westchester is the one in both Sussex and Worcester counties. Worcester Co didn't exist until 1742, and the DE/MD border was often in dispute.

Regards,

Harry
