Because the population was dropping, Maryland invited VA and MA resident to come and accept land and Maryland's freedom offered by The Toleration Act of 1649. Is there any breakdown on how this plan panned out?
My ancestor John Woolcott came to Maryland in 1649 and assigned land to a Thomas Bradley for transportation. Because of the Civil War in the 1640's there doesn't appear to be any ships from England to America. So, I assume it's possible he came by ship from VA or MA.
I have tried to trace 53 individuals for which transportation was furnished by Thomas Bradley and find no record of any of them (including Bradley) in Maryland or LDS records.
Is there any record of where, whoever came, where did they came from? Did anyone from England answer the call for freedom in 1649 and if so, how did they get to Maryland if no ships arrived in 1649.
