George Nogel, Tobias Horine & Deeter Bowert witnessed the will of Jacob Stayley on 6 Jun 1764. Tobias Horine & Johan Jacob Allis immigrated from Germany on board the ship Dragon arriving Philadelphia in October 1849.
Daughters of George & Maria Louisa Nogel, Margaret& Rosina Nogel m. Henry Joel and Michael Burkett respectively.
Both Henry Joel and Michael Burkett applied for naturalization in Montgomery Co., MD. during this time frame.
These facts seem to indicate George Nogel & family lived in Montgomery Co., MD. Michael Burkett m. Rosina Nogel and Henry Joel m. Margaret Nogel.
Henry Joel & Margaret Nogel had two daughters Margaret & Katharine Joel. Abraham Ellis & his brother Jacob Ellis, sons of Johan Jacob Allis m. the Joel sisters Katharine & Margaret in Lancaster Co., PA in 1780.
By 1780 Margaret Nogel Joel had apparently divorced Henry Joel as Henry had m. Ann Eve LNU as noted in his will.
Henry Joel d. testate in Berkeley Co., VA in 1779 leaving 293 acres of land to his daughters Katharine & Margaret.
Following their marriages both Ellis families moved to Berkeley Co., VA and made their homes on the land on Back Creek inherited by the Joel sisters.
I hope to prove that Geroge Nogel who witnessed the will of Jacob Stayley was the father of Margaret & Rosina Nogel.
Whether Montgomery Co. m. records will support the theory is presently uknown but possible. Anyone in Montgomery Co., MD who may be interested in this genealogy might assist by checking m. records. I will be contact authorities to see if Nogel sisters m. records confirm their marriages to Henry Joel and Michael Burkett.
Incidentally Michael Brukett was found in Jefferson Co., VA in later years.
