Kathy,

Thanks for looking in the 1880 census for me.

Griffith is definitely a maiden name, because it is the name on a sampler that I recently inherited from my parent's estate. The sampler says Lydia Rebecca Griffith - Sampler Age 12 Years. She could have been from Baltimore County because the original frame has label on the back from a company on Howard Street in Baltimore.

My sister told me that Lydia was my maternal grandmother's (Hammond) aunt or great aunt who was born in Carroll County in 1898.
I will try to talk to some of my relatives, but they are older and live Baltimore while I am in Colorado.
