Griffith, Lydia Rebecca 1850-1900?

I inherited a sampler that was stitched by Lydia Rebecca Griffith who is either the aunt or great aunt of my maternal grandmother, Agusta (Hammond) Brown. My grandmother was born in 1898 in Carroll County, Maryland. I believe both families were farmers in the Sykesville area.

I've never done any research on the Brown or Hammond families so I'm not sure how the Griffith's are related.

If anyone has any information about these families or the best way to do this research, please let me know. Thanks.
