James Lewis & Sarah, died 1807 Worcester County MD
Seeking any information on James Lewis Jr, born bet. 1765-1773 Worcester County, Maryland, married Sarah (surname unknown). I'd love to know Sarah's story.
James and Sarah died in Worcester County within months of each other in 1807, orphaning several young children including son James Johnson Lewis (1805-1888), who was taken in by his elderly grandparents James Sr (1740-1811) and Sarah/Mary "Polly" Dennis Lewis (1753?-1812). Sarah/Mary Polly Dennis Lewis took young James Johnson Lewis to Ohio in about 1811, after James Sr. died.
James Jr. left a will, apparently ailing and realizing the end was near; Sarah's demise soon after, at guestimated age of 35, is unexplained.
James Jr had 7 siblings, all believed to be born in Worcester County: Ann Lewis Dennis 1765-1800; Isaac Lewis 1770; Margaret Lewis Lewis (m Zadoc Lewis) 1771-1846; Milborn Lewis 1774-1848; Mary Polly Lewis Littleton 1777-?; Rebecca Lewis 1781; and Jesse Lewis 1784-1864.
James Jr. and Sarah had at least seven children, including James Johnson Lewis 1805; they also had Hulda, Elizabeth, Margaret "Peggy," Selby, Anna, and Mary Polly.
Any insights into the mysterious James Jr and Sarah would be most appreciated.
