Benjamin Ford b. 1723 m. Rachel Tipton - Need documentation of children, will, deeds, etc.
Am at the proverbial brick wall with John Tipton Ford. Searching my Ford family line and trying to find information on the following persons that I found in the FamilySearch.org site. I've followed the children of Thomas Foard/Ford & Leah (Price)Foard/Ford forward; but, can't find much on Benjamin & Rachel (Tipton) Foard/Ford.

Traced my Ford line to a John Tipton Ford, b.poss. 1770-80, poss. Buncombe Co,NC??? m. to Anne/Annie (Sarah Anne???)McMullen.(named his first son Tipton Ford born about 1800-05).
Have copy of John's will of 1833 in Haywood Co., NC that names five adult sons (Tipton,Benjamin Jackson(my line), James W., William C. and George W.) Other children are: Evaline, Joseph Posey,Sarah,Doctor Burton, John T., Jane and Letitia.
John's will was not probated until 1871 and some records take that as his date of death; however,he appears in the
1830 census; but, only Ann Ford appears as head of household in the 1840 census. A later document between Ann Ford (widow) and her son, Joseph Posey Ford, dated about 1833-34 confirms John's demise before 1840 census.
Also have three (3) land records in Buncombe Co, NC that show:
1. Land Indenture-30 Nov. 1801 - Benjamin Ford & John Tipton-From John Strother for $36.00(72 acres)- "East
side of Pigeon River-joining land whereon said Benjamin & John Tipton now lives...""...their corner ...to pounding Mill Branch...to the Pigeon River...down the Pigeon River to their line...north with their line...Witnesses..... John Tipton" (Does the above deed indicate that John Tipton is the possible son of Benjamin Ford??? Have you seen a deed(s)
that show purchases by two persons of a different surname??? One of the witnesses is listed as John Tipton and would seem unlikely that you could witness your own indenture???)
2. Land Indenture-17 May 1802/05? - John T. Ford - from Robert Reed (14 acres for 30 pounds)"East side of Pigeon River-whereon John T. Ford now lives... Witnesses: John Strother - James McKee?
3. Land Indenture - 09 Sept. 1804 - John T. Ford - ($125.00 from William CHAMBERS)- "East side of Pigeon River-where he now lives... west to Pounding Mill Branch... Witnesses: Robert Reed -Robert Caine" (May be a far reaching coincidence; but, the sister of Rachel Tipton (Mary Tipton) married a James CHAMBERS and this land was purchased from a William CHAMBERS???)
Could my John Tipton Ford be the son or grandson of Benjamin Ford/Foard b. 18 Dec. 1723 in Baltimore, MD???
Some Ford and Tipton families of Anne Arundel Co. & Baltimore Co., MD migrated to TN/NC/KY after the
Revolutionary War. The Tipton name is carried on through my Ford line.
Will of FORD/FOARD, Thomas Senr. of Baltimore Co., MD 18 Nov. 1748 lists as one of the witnesses : Jno Tipton, Senior.
Some genealogy records list my John Tipton Ford's
father as Benjamin Foard/Ford, from Maryland; however, in asking the folks for documnntation, I've never
received a reply!
Glad to share any of my research and would be most appreciative if anyone could give me information on the family of BENJAMIN FORD/FOARD and RACHEL Tipton and in particular, their children.
