One Ancestry researcher lists John's dates as Jan 2, 1755-1790.He was b. in Fairfield, CT, and d. in Kent, Litchfield, CT.His wife, Ann Briscoe, has dates of 1754-1795.Their children:
1.Unk. Monroe (1772-?).
2.John Monroe (1772-?).
3.Samuel Monroe (1776-1853).Born Port Tobacco, Charles, MD. Mar 1:Elizabeth Dulaney; Mar2 Sarah Shafer.Samuel d. in West Virginia. If Samuel's death year is correct, he would have technically died in Virginia since WV was not created until the time of the Civil War.
4.Barnabas Monroe (1785-1880).Born Maryland, died Muskingum, Muskingum, OH.In 1866, a Barnabas Monroe owned 30 acres of land in Warren Township, IN.His taxes were $201.[Source:The Warren Republican, Williamsport, IN, Jan 18, 1866.]I don't know if this is the same Barnabas Monroe.
5.Unk. Monroe (1791-?).
John Monroe's father is listed as David Monroe, born 1720 in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT, and died May 19, 1777, in Weston, Fairfield, CT.David was the son of Joseph Monroe of Norwalk, CT (Dec 18, 1696-Sep 10, 1773) and Esther Coley (?-1774).
John Monroe's mother is listed as Sarah Meeker, born May 27, 1723 in Fairfield, Fairfield, CT, and died May 15, 1747 in Weston, Fairfield, CT.
I can't attest to the validity of this information but wish you luck in your research.
