The Tenth daye of March and in the yeere of our Lord God 1623 I Henry Perpointe of Bennington in the County of Hertford Taylor beinge of whole minde & in good and perfect remembrance laude & praise be unto Allmighty God make & ordaine this my present Testament concerninge heerin my last Will in manner & forme following. that is to saye, ffirst I commend my soule unto Allmighty God my Maker & Redeemer, and my bodie to be buryed in the Churchyarde of Bennington in the County of Hertford, ITEM I will that all such debts and duties as I owe of right or of conscience to anie person, or psons be well and trulie consented and paid by myne Executor hereinafter named, or else ordeyned for to be paid without anie delays or contradicion. ITEM my Will and intent is, that Agnes Perpoynte my wife should have all my free house or cottage which I now dwell in duringe her naturall life, And after her decease my Will and intent is that Amos Perpoynte my youngest sonne shall have the saide free house or cottage with all the premisses thereunto belonginge to him & his heires for¬ever lawfullie begotten of his bodie But if it shall happen that my sonne Amos doeth dye without anie heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten, That then my Will and intent is that my sonne Robert Perpoynte shall have it to him & his heires forever, ITEM I doe give unto my sonne Robert Tenn Shillinges to be paide him within one yeare after my decease & Agnes my wife. ITEM my Will & intent is that my sonne Roberts fower children, that is to say, John Moyses Anne & Elizabeth shall have Tenn Shillinges apeece to be paid them by my sonne Amos at the age of eighteene yeares each of them, and if it shall happen that anie of them doe fortune to dye before that it be due to be paide, That then my Will is, that they which shall then livinge of them shall have each others parte ITEM I doe give unto my sonne Moyses Tenn Shillinges to be paide him within twoe yeares after my decease & Agnes my wife by my sonne Amos ITEM my Will & intent is that my daughter Cathred [?Gertred] shalbe paide the Sum of fforty Shillinges within three yeares after the decease of me & my wife, but if it shall hap¬pen that my daughter Cathred doeth dye without anie heire of her bodie lawfully begotten before that this be due to be paide. That then my Will is that my sonne Amos shall have it. ITEM I doe give unto Henry Perpoynte the sonne of my sonne Richard Perpoynte the Sum of Twentye Shillinges to be paide unto him by my sonne Amos at the age of eighteen yeares. But if it doeth happen that Henry Perpoynte doeth dye before the time that this is due to be paide, That then it shall re¬turne to my sonne Amos. All the rest of my Goodes Unbequeathed I doe give unto my sonne Amos, whom I doe ordaine and make my full & whole Executor of this my last Will & testament. On 2 Apr, 1627 he was licensed to keep a common ale-house In his dwelling - no unlawful games or evil rule. This license was renewed several times, the 10 Apr. l631 renewal reading common tippling house. Robert apparently died before 12 July l641, when a petition of the townfolk asked that five of the existing ale-houses be closed down to keep from impov¬erishing the village, that of Ann Pearepoynte, widow, being one of the three to remain. Ann Parpoynt was buried at Braughing in 1666. [STICKNEY]

(1 Mar 1637.8) In the name of God Amen, The first day of March 1637 I Amos Perepointe of Bennington in the County of Hertford Taylor being sick in body but well in minde God be praised, do make & ordains this my last will & Testament in manner & forme following. First I commend my Soule into the handes of Almighty God the Creator thereof upon whose gracious mercies alone in & through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Saviour I assuredly hope for Salvation. And my body to be buried in the churchyard of Bennington. Item I give to Ellen my lov¬ing wife in Consideration of her willingness to sell her house at Gettings Greene to pay my Debts my freehouse and Cottage I now dwell in lying in Bennington with all thereto belonging during the term of her natural life. And after the expiration thereof my will & intent is that my sonne Henry Perepointe shall have it & enjoy it to him & his Heyres forever. Item I give to my Loving Brother Moses Perepointe of Hitchin my best Coate desyring him to accept of soe small a Guift and to putt too his helping hand in my sonnes Education and bringing into the world. (1665-1669) Henry Pierpoint enters right as followeth, Henry Pierpoint and Elizabeth his wife, and Amis his eldest son & Jabis Pierpoint and Elizabeth & Hannah & Moses. Warrt. inde Granted for three hundred & fifty acres, bearing date the first of November 1665 ret. April 1666. Henry Pierpoint took up three pieces of land in Ann Arundel County based on this grant, as follows: 1. "Pierpoint's Range," 150 acres in the woods about 2 miles from the Severn River, in Middleneck Hundred, surveyed 3 Nov. 1665, resurveyed 4 June 1673 and then found to be 207 acres. 2. "Pierpoint's Rocks," 80 acres on the north side of South River on the N.W. side of Broad Creek, in Middle Neck Hundred, surveyed 15 Dec. 1665. 3. "Pierpoint's Branch," 40 acres on the Ridge near Brewers land that was, in South River Hundred, surveyed, 4 Feb 1669. (1665-1675) In 1665 he received a certificate for 150 acres of land. This was called "Pierpoint's Lott." In 1675, he received a certificate for 80 acres of land, and the patent the same year and called it "Pierpoint's Rocks." In 1673 he received a certificate and patent for 40 acres of land, called "Pierpoint's Branch." In 1674 he added 207 acres to 'Pierpoint's Lott" and received patent for same. In all he owned over a thousand acres, though it is not known that he followed the occupation of "Planter" exclusively. His home plantation, "Diamond," was located in Anne Arundel County about two miles from the head of Anne Arundel River (now the Severn River. (13 6m [Aug] 1680) At a man's meeting at John Garey's at the "Cliffs," the 13th day of the 6th month, 1680, a book in manuscript by Henry Pierpoynt was read at this meeting. In another minutes it is spoken of as a book on Truth. [West River Monthly Meeting of the Friends Churchs] [All efforts to locate this manuscript, or a copy, have failed.]
