TROTH, pre-1800 Maryland

I am searching for the family, (parents/bro./sis./aunts/uncles/child.) of Joseph E. Troth, my 3G-grandfather. Through family letters, he, and the only son of whom I know, were born in Vienna, Dorchester Co., MD.
Records, only drawn from family letters, state that he was born in 1790 and married in either Sussex or Dorchester Co. on Dec. 27, 1812.
1790 MD census' record several Troths of that era and area - all having children within the household: James, 8 male, 4 Female; Wm., 2M, 1F; Wm., 1M 6F; Samuel, 5M, 6F; James, 3M, 6F. Were any of these children named Joseph?
Joseph is found in later census', but without accessible records there is a dead end for me here.
Quacker heritage is suspicious as there is a reference made of his son as being "converted" to Methodism from 'Third Haven' about 1835.
If anyone has the information or direction in which I should seek, I will be greatly appreciative.
Mike Wilson
