I've heard of the Jacob Round-Prudence Maroe line. The main researcher of that line is convinced Jacob was born in Germany, so I thought he wasn't part of my line. This even though Jacob IS a characteristic given name of the Rownd/Round males of that time. Then I found out about a daughter of Samuel Caldwell and Martha Rownd marrying a Markoe in Philadelphia in 1797.Admittedly, I think the church was the 3rd Presbyterian, not the Christ Church. There's pretty good evidence that Martha Rownd Caldwell's was a sea captain. There's some evidence her cousin was.Her son, James R. Caldwell, Sarah Caldwell Markoe's brother, was definitely a Marine officer. He died at the battle of Tripoli. The other bit of the puzzle is that the descendents of James and Prudence parallel the migration though Ohio, Indiana, etc., of known descendents of my Rownd ancestor.Could be just coincidence, but I'm keeping an open mind at this point.
Caldwell and Rowan are both relatively common Irish names.Could be related, but not necessarily.
