Yvonne, here is a recap of census information: 1850 Census: There was a Joseph Shupfer (note spelling) living in IL. He was b. in Germany 1860 Census: There was a Schupfer family living in Missouri. Peter and his wife, Mary, were born in Germany. Their children, Mary, Catherine, Mena, George, and Burtra, were all born in Missouri. 1870 Census: There were 4 Shupfers (note spelling) living in NY. They were born in Deutschland and NY. 1880 Census: There was a Henry Schupfer living in Carter County, MO. 1900 Census: There were 9 Schupfers living in MD and MO. Joseph Schupfer, born Germany, was living in Cumberland, Md., with wife Annie who was born in Maryland. Their children, William, Charles, George, Henry and Roscilla (Rosillia?) were also born in MD. The two Missouri Schupfers were born in Austria and Germany. 1910 Census: There were 24 Schupfers living in CT, ID, MO, PA, and WA. They were born in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the US. 1920 Census: There were 15 Schupfers living in IA, MI, MO, and NY. They were born in Austria, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and the US. 1930 Census: There were 21 Schupfers living in CA, ID, IA, MN, and NY. They were born in Austria, Czechoslovakia, and the US.
