You asked how I am connected to the Dowse line. I believe that I have made the jump in my research from North Carolina to Maryland after ca. 15 years of effort. I am in Baltimore County, MD and have identified a Dickenson Anderson as my ancestor. The Anderson line seems to connnect to a John Anderson in Baltimore County, MD via 2 or 3 more generations and John Anderson is connected to an Edward Dowse. John Anderson is mentioned in the Edward Dowse Will, 30 Oct. 1690-22 Dec. 1690, as receiving a gun but I do not know the relationship to Edward Dowse (perhaps the husband to a deceased daughter?). The only other time I have run across this surname is a Thomas Dowse listing in: Martha W. McCartney, VIRGINIA IMMIGRANTS AND ADVENTURERS, 1607-1635, (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Company, 2007), p. 266 but it does not list children. The families (Harriotts, James, Anderson, Dowse, Dickenson, Gorsuch, Barber, etc.) mentioned in the Edward Dowse Will intermarried and seemed to remain close in Baltimore County at least until 1800, when my Anderson family migrated to Guilford Co., NC. I am aware that the Gorsuch family and the Dickenson family as well as the Todd family migrated to Baltimore Co., MD from VA (primarily Lancaster Co., VA and Gloucester Co., VA)in ca. 1660-1665.

I am just starting the Maryland reearch but if you could give me any information on Edward Dowse and the Dowse family, I would appreciate it.
