I am searching for information on Levi Davis, born 1796 in Frederick Co., Maryland. He married Rebecca Shriver in 1826. Farmed and in business in Tiffin (Seneca Co), OH, until his death in 1870. Rebecca had 4 children and died in 1837. Levi then married her younger sister Julian (also as “Julia Ann” in some records). They had 6 children. I have death information on 7 of his children. But none on Henry b.1832 to R, Jesse b. 1834 to R., and Levi b. 1849 to J.. A Tiffin history states only one child, Anna M. Patterson, was living in the 1880’s. At that time Julian resided with Anna and her husband, Samuel, in Newton, IA. Julian died in 1900 and is buried in Newton. A biography of Samuel Patterson states he went to live in Kellog, Jasper Co., Iowa, where one of his wife’s brothers was in business. Besides more information on Levi Davis, I would like to know more of the Iowa connection: which brother? Did he marry? Children? Also, we have a lovely quilt said to have been made in Westminster, MD, by Julian before her marriage to Levi in 1839. Is there any way to know if other quilts are attributed to her in the area? It is too well done to be the only quilt she ever made. I found it very interesting that so many people from Maryland settled in the Tiffin, OH, area. If you don’t already know of the Rutherford B Hayes Center obituary listing for Ohio, it is very useful. Notify Administrator about this message?
