The A. is for Alexander. He is buried in the Ivy Hill Cem. in Laurel, Maryland. John Alexander Cole was married to Susan Denmeade. (don't have dates) John's father was Alexander Cole who was married to Susan Ratcliffe. alexander's father was Matthias Cole who was married to Elizabeth Lynn (?) [don't know her maiden name...] Matthias's father was Daniel Cole and daniel was married to Sarah (?)[don't have her maiden name either...]
Henry Denmeade Cole was married twice. His first Wife's name was Amanda Seaton Mountjoy. His second wife's name was Sarah Effie Keithly. Family lore has it that Sarah was full bloodied Native American. (don't really know what tribe she belonged to./?/) Henry was 24 years older that Sarah. The death of his first wife left him with 4 or 5 children to care for. Sarah was very lovely (but she wouldn't allow her picture to be taken)and though she started out as a Governess or Baby sitter, they soon married and she gave Henry another 5 or 6 children.
My grandmother Mary Lillian Cole was the oldest of this second set of children. ( Ernest, Raymond, Lawrence and one sister Catherine) Mary Lillian married Leslie Raymond Welsh in 1915. They went on to have 9 children.
