Freddy.....You asked do I know Jacob. I don't know for sure, unless he was Jacob Frederick or Frederick Jacob HUFF. Valentine had a son Frederick, mentioned in some of the estate files, but we have never found anything for him searching for Frederick HUFF. There is a marriage bond in Rowan Co for the Jacob HUFF and Liddy/Lydia McCreary that you mention: Groom: Jacob Huff Bride: Liddy Macrary Bond Date: 22 Jan 1791 Bond #: 000126161 Level Info: North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868 ImageNum: 005003 County: Rowan Record #: 01 213 Bondsman: Elijah Merrell Witness: Cunm Harris Deputy Clerk I was reading another post that you left on the HUFF board, about land deeds with TRACEY and Jacob HUFF in Rowan Co, and saw the name of William MOORE. Wm MOORE bought the land from Valentine HUFF's heirs in 1803. The land was on Bear Creek. Then in 1806, May 1 - Rowan Co, NC - William Moore sells to Hugh WILSON for $1,260, 320 acres on both sides of Bear Creek, adj. Stewart and Ebenezer Frost. (Moore sold the entire 320 acres even though he was only deeded 319 3/4 acres - he did not reserve burial ground.) DB 19, p 918. I don't know where the other creek was that you had mentioned - whether it was on the same side of Mocksville as Valentine's property or not. Do you have any church record- what church did Michael Tracy and Hannah have their children baptized in? I had found that Valentine's children were members of various churches - daughter Elizabeth HUFF m John SAIN at Old Heidelberg Lutheran church in 1787. The ROLANDs were Brethren, and the grfather of Jacob ROLAND who married Esther HUFF was Jasper/Gaspar ROLAND, a minister in the Brethren church at Dutchman's Creek. He had land south of where Valentine's land was. He also came down to NC via York Co PA, then Frederick CO MD. In 1762, May 15 - Gasper Roland buys 113½ acres in Frederick Co., MD from David Fouts for 150£. (Liber H p 5). John ROLAND, son of Gaspar, was in Fred'd Co MD in 1771, and then Rowan Co by 1777. Jacob ROLAND, John's son, m Esther HUFF and they left NC and went to Harrison CO KY by 1800, and they died there. I would be interested to know more about Jacob and Liddy HUFF, as it certainly seems plausible that he could be the son of Valentine....Would like to know his birth/death dates. If he married in 1791, his birth would be prob c1770, and the HUFFs were in Carroll's Manor then, rent rolls 1769-1771. I have never found church records for any of the children in Frederick Co. I believe Carroll's Manor was predominately a Moravian community? Maybe someone on the board knows more or can help with the HUFFs. Diana in AL Notify Administrator about this message?
