There was a Joseph Smith in Frederick in 1820 who had sons the right age to be their father. No proof though. But since Elias had a son Josephus he might have named him after his father. Both names are interchanged in that area of Maryland. I had a ggggrandfather named Joseph whose son was called Josephus. Notify Administrator about this message?
