I am looking for the Corkran's of Dorchester county. Some lived around the east New Market area in early 1800's and earlier. They are decendents of James Corkran & Rachel Bonner.My gr grandfather was Jesse Corkran and Sophia Medford. Onthe 1860 census Christopher C Corkran(my gr grandfather) was staying with John Burton, he was his nephew and listed as a mariner(of what??...his mother(Sophia died in 1852 apparently his father(Jesse) had died prior to that, can't find a death date. My gr grandfather was Christopher Columbus Corkran b; 4/19/1825 married Sophia Medford 5/17/1868 and died 1/27/1896. He had a sister Emily, brother James Hiram and william J. Corkran's. They owned land around the East New Market area and later moved to Williamsburg MD. Anyone with any info....please share or lead me in a direction.
