Abel J. Davis b. 1830 probably in Hagerstown, MD m. Margaret Ann, 28 Sept 1850 in Cecil Co., MD. Margaret was d/o George Mahan and Lydia Wells. Abel J. was s/o James Davis and Miss Howard. Abel J. was employed in a rolling mill & lived in N.E. Cecil Co. Margaret was b. 1830/31 & d. 8 Jan 1903 in N.E. Cecil Co. Margaret was d/o George Mahan, b. abt 1790 & Lydia Wells.
Abel J. and Margaret had 5 children: Rachel M., b. 1861; Margaret A., b. 1863; Missouri E., b.1864; Reuben H. S., b. 1866 and George B. Davis, b. 1868.
I am trying to determine if Abel Davis [1768-1847] a cooper, b. MD who m. Mary Huffman/Hoffman, b. PA is related to Abel J. Davis. Abel Davis & Mary had Mary, Rebecca, Catherine, John Davis, b. 1800, Elizabeth, Isaac, Jacob and Nancy - all b. in Monongalia Co., VA. All childen, except Mary, followed their parents to Champaign Co., OH about 1818 and on to White Co., IN about 1835 where Abel Davis d. in 1847.
John Davis, b. 1800; (above) m. Mary Newland. Their son Isaac Mason Davis m. Sarah A. Mahan, 1848, d/o John Mahan & Hester Shigley.
There is evidence that Abel Davis was related to Abel Davis [c1725-1790] of Pencader Hundred, New Castle Co., DE a member of the Welsh Tract Church and owner of Iron Hill. I need to connect the dots but also can use some help. Thanks.
