James H Hemphill

Hello. I was wondering if anyone might have any information on James H Hemphill, who lived his whole life in Cecil County, Maryland, was born about 1824 and died around 1896 (according to a probate record I found online). According to a marriage listing I discovered his wife Harriet had the surname Slack. According to the various censuses and a Chesapeake City directory from 1878 James was a blacksmith. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck researching any further back, and my query on the Hemphill surname board has as of yet yielded no results. I thought that it might be worthwhile to see if any of you folks on the Cecil County board might be able to shine a little light on the family branch. I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Thank you.

George Hemphill
