I just found this post and thought i would reply, Levi Phillips m. Mildred Talley she was b 1791 not sure where. I found this letter online see below.

See letter by Rosa Dew Newberry dated 11/19/1930
Her great grandfather was Levi (Eli) Phillips, a planer and a distiller (Wiskey
Maker). He was a cousin to Chief Ross of the Cherokee Nation. He married Ester
Phillip's mother, Mildred Talley. Mildred Talley's mothers name is Leatha Ross
and she was a full blooded Cherokee Indian.
The daughters of the American Revolution, Lineage book, V 119:313, give a Levi
Phillips (1751-1840) whho served as a private in Capt. Branan's Company, Col.
Iock's North Carolina Regiment. Levi was born in Cecil County Maryland, and
died in Carroll County, Georgia. The 1840 list of Military Pensioners (Part of
that Census) shows Levil Phillips as living in South Carolina (Carrol County
Information found on Temple: Jordan River records from Salt Lake City UT show
Ester Phillis with parents as Levi Phillips-Father and Millie Talley-mother
