Thank you Marilyn. I've pretty well got him followed forward from 1860 (and I believe he's the Charles in Cecil Co. in 1850 though that it says he was born in MD) but his going from DE to MD and back to DE doesn't clearly ally him with the Carpenter lines in either state. And Charles was a fairly common name among the Chesapeake Carpenters, so something definite will be necessary to positively place him with his parents. Thanks for your help!
