Hi Vi, The book is available through the Historical Society of Carroll County, Maryland. I have copies of William Shaw's land bounty papers (he served in the War of 1812), and other information. Shaw's house still stands on Keysville Road, a beautiful old farm house the last i saw it. William Shaw and Suzannah Galt Shaw are buired in piney creek Cemetary on Harney Road. Thomas and Joseph are buried next to William. Joseph died in April, 1865--murdered in Westminster--and Thomas died in August of 1865. I searched but found no connection between the two deaths. William Shaw was one of the first County Comissioners of Carroll County, Maryland, and a pioneer Democrat. More info. about William can be found in Scharf's History of Western Maryland, Vol. 2. Any help you could give in uncovering information about Joseph--family stories, diaries, or anything--would be greatly appreciated. Please ask around if you would. William's youngest son ran a pharmacy in Westminster in the 1920's--not far from the spot where Joseph was burned out of business. Jesse
