James PARNELL & Katherine CHENEY m. 1 Sept. 1701. Katherine m2. 18 Je. 1702, Robert BROWN. Robert BROWNE & Katherine had son Abell BROWNE, bpt. 25 Je. 1704.

MD Cal/o Wills, James PARNELL, AA, 18 N 1701, 27 N 1701. To minor daus. Eliza. & Mary, dw. plantation. To wf. Catherine. Ex. Wm. COTTER. Wit: Wm. COTTER, Wm. SNEST, Walter PARDEN.

Inventory of James PARNALL, 28.42, AA, 16 Mar. 1707 by Jane, exx/o Wm. COTTER & wf/o James SANDERS; also 35A.261, 28 N 1714.

WARFIELD's Founders of AA & Howard Counties: One of the earliest surveys of 1651 on Rhode River was "Harwood," by Robert HARWOOD. After litigation, Justice and High Sheriff Abell BROWNE held it and willed it to his son Robert. Abell BROWNE came from Dumfries, Scotland. He m1. a dau/o Samuel PHILLIPS of Calvert Co., a sister of Mary, w/o Michael TANEY, who with Abel was an executor of their bro-in-law Ambrose LANDERSON of Calvert Co. {MD Cal/o wills: Ambrose LANDERSON, CA, 21 S 1682, 1 F 1682/3. To Samuel PHILLIPS & Mary, wf/o Michael TANEY. To bro-in-law Abell BROWN, AA, coex. with Michael TANEY.}

The will of Abel BROWN said that Robert was his only son, but WARFIELD says that another son Samuel was named in litigation about "Harwood."

MD Cal/o Wills: Samll. BROWN, BA, 24 Oct. 1712, 2 Je. 1713. To sons Samll., James, & Absolom. Exx. wf. Mary. Wit. Jas. PHILIPS, Humphry JONES, John CLEGG. [WARFIELD says this may have been Abel's nephew. There is more in the book about BROWN descendants, but it is difficult to decipher.]

The Samuel that d. 1712/3, may have had a first wife Mary that was mother of his children and d. ca. 1708. One Samuel BROWN m. 2 Jan. 1709/10, BA, Mary SKELTON. Was that a second marriage of the first Samuel or the first marriage of his son Samuel?
