Do you mean the John BEAUCHAMP, 49 in 1641 deposition, who m. 27 Dec. 1615, Alice FREEMAN, bpt. 15 Apr. 1601, Pulborough, Sussex? That John was son of Thomas BEAUCHAMP (ca. 1558, Cosgrove, Northampton - will made 27 Dec. 1613) & Dorothy CLARK, dau/o Edward. My connection is through the parents of Alice, Edmund FREEMAN, bu. 6 Je. 1623, Pulborough, Sussex, & Alice COLE(S). John BEAUCHAMP was one of the members of the Plymouth Company, and Alice's brother Edmund FREEMAN was his agent in New England. John BEAUCHAMP & Alice FREEMAN had Alice, b. 26 Je. 1617, m. DOGGET. Thomas George Richard Elizabeth Mary, m. _ WOOLSEY Edmund, who migrated to Somerset Co., MD, where he was clerk of the court 1666 to 1691. There is an extensive article in the Filson Club Quarterly, 28:2, April 1954, "Beauchamp Family," by Stith THOMPSON. This mentions that the American branch of the family has had one member sent to the gallows, Jereboam BEAUCHAMP, of the Kentucky tragedy in 1826; and also had a candidate for the Presidency, James Beauchamp "Champ" CLARK. There's another article, "Edmund Beauchamp of MD," by Mary Turpin Layton, in the DAR Magazine, 66:4, April 1932. Notify Administrator about this message?
