Do you have the Revolutionary War pension records for the earlier Gideon GAMBREL? BRUMBAUGH's Maryland Records: Gideon GAMBREL, Caroline Co., to be paid for services as a private during the Rev. War, passed 2 Mar. 1827, #25.

You can find information on the database of the 1880 Census at

Dates there for John W. GAMBREL: 8 Aug. 1838 - 19 Nov. 1899, no proof.

Federalsburg, Caroline, MD, 1880: James C. GAMBREL, 21 (sic, ca. 32-33?), carpenter; wf. Charlotte E., 27, b. DE; ch. Roxanna, 10; Roseamer, 9; Wm. W., 6; & James F., 1, all b. MD except Charlotte. Nearby were Celia GAMBREL, 40, single; with "others" Martha A. MORGAN, 38; & John C. MORGAN, 1, all MD. Tamsey WILLIS, 80, wid., & son Wm. A. WILLIS, 59, all MD.

In Green Camp, Marion, OH: John W. GAMBREL, 41; Lucy L., 39; sons Caleb H., 16, & John E., 12, all births in MD. Niece Matilda M. BRYAN, 8, b. OH.
