Looking for information on a Morton Family that has any or all of these people in it. Samuel Morton b. abt 1799 m. Mary Ann Smith b. 1809 in MD. She was perhaps bron in Frederick, MD to parents George Smith and Rebecca Gertzendanner; George H. Morton b. 1810, MD; John H.B. Morton, birth in MD, date unknown, married Ann Forquent who was born in NY and had a daughter born in New Orleans and both father and daughter died about 1860 in Izard Co., AR; Henry E. who was married to Mary C. both of whom were living in Calvert Co., MD in 1852 at which time they purchased land from George H. Morton in Daviess Co., KY and sold it to John H.B. Morton living in New Orleans. They may have been in Prince Frederick District2 in 1860. I believe these men may have all been brothers, or one of them may have been the father. I believe they had a sister named Arabella Morton, b. in MD who married a Mr. Fields in Daviess Co., KY about 1845. George H., and John H.B. were in Izard Co., AR from about 1850 to 1860. Both must have died around that time. Samuel Morton is found in Daviess Co., KY in 1840 and 1850 census. He may have died in KY in early 1850s. His widow Mary Ann Smith Morton did move to Izard Co., AR where her oldest son, Thomas Morton, was living. Thomas was also born in MD. She had a daughter Mary A. and a daughter Rebecca who were both born in MD before the family moved to KY. If you are connected to this family please contact: dbton@yahoo.com
