Why is Oak Hill on a hill? (Lonaconing)

Greetings from Michigan!
I have to do an essay paper in my geography class, and I am tying in topographic features from my genealogic travels
Some of my ancestors are in Oak Hill Cemetery, in Lonaconing. Can anyone fill me in on the logic of making this cemetery way up on the hill instead of on some flatter terrain? I would love to include the "Why" of having this cemetery where it was, but I am at a loss to explain it....
With thanks,
Sally
