Looking for concrete information about the Laura McWhorter that married A.W. Thompson on 15 July 1855 in Benton Co. Alabama (which is currently Calhoun Co.AL)
I am not sure if she is in my family line or not but I have strong suspicion she is.
My Thompson family line is from that AL gggrandfather is Alexander W. Thompson. He and his wife had 2 sons...William W. Thompson b. abt.1858 or 1859...and Franklin Thompson b. abt 1859 or 1860.
However in the 1860 AL census lists A.W. Thompson's wife as Isabel. Could that be Laura's middle name or a nickname? There is also a 3 year age difference as well, if Laura was born in 1827.
Why I think that she may be the Isabel on the 1860 AL census is this: Laura is listed on the 1870 GA census married to a James M. Stowers and there are 2 Thompson male children (Wm.W. and Franklin) living in the theroy is that her first husband, A.W., died in the Civil War and she remarried.I have not been able to find any information on A.W. after 1860.
I would like to correspond with anyone who may have knowledge on this.
