Hi there! Bless you for your kindness in sharing this MCVOY info! Are you a cousin?
ZELINA MCVOY was probably ZULENE AMELIA
GUESSARD (several spellings)MCVOY, wife of
MARTIN MCVOY,approx 1814-1869, who was the
son of DIEGO MCVOY, SR., a Commissioner of
Mobile AL from 1815 throught the 1820's.
I was really confused about VICTORIA, as I
saw her info and no one seemed to connect her
with a particular line of MCVOYS. My ancestor
was GUILLERMO MCVOY(aka MACABOY) who was the
brother of DIEGO,SR. and the uncle of
MARTIN MCVOY 1814-1869. Guillermo(later known as WILLIAM MCVOY)had a son named MARTIN MCVOY who died very young-age 17- in April 1841 and my great grandpa who was s/o WM.JR.
was born May 14, 1841 only a few days later
and was named MARTIN NATHANIEL MCVOY.
Anyway, back to ZULENE AMELIA. Interesting
family for sure. On the new LDS-ONLINE SITE
THEY have info that MARTIN(s/o DIEGO,SR.) & AMELIA were married in WASHINGTON STATE! Also, that MARTIN was listed as a PHYSICIAN & DRUGGIST. He & ZULENE AMELIA had a set of
twins named OCTAVIA & OCTAVIUS in the early
1840's (off top of head??1842??? born on
OCT.8th--note the names!)Victoria must have
been their sibling that everyone forgot about
or something as she wasn't listed in many
places. OK, one twin OCTAVIA was said to marry a BENJAMIN F. LAND, per CIV.WAR pension
application. So if VICTORIA married STEPHEN
LAND, perhaps this was a case of sisters
marrying brothers?????? I'm so glad you shared this info. I would've NEVER looked
in JACKSON CO for the info! Everyone places
these folks in MOBILE and apparently borders
did change and folks did move. OCTAVIUS became a butcher. His Uncle, DIEGO MCVOY,JR
became a prominent physician. Others included
CORNELIUS MCVOY who died in an unusual train fatality when recovering from Civil War Injuries. He was said to be released from a
Talledega hospital and his crutch slipped while boarding a train and he was killed. This is per KRISTY WRIGHT EDENFIELD'S homepage. Please write and let me know how
you are connected. I wrote 8 letters to MCVOYS in PENSACOLA and never received one
reply. My great grandpa ended up in MD for
the Civil War when he "was assumed" to have
gone north to take employment.????? He did
keep in touch with his FL family as evidenced
by an old will I found when I was a child.

Well, my NEW email is: BONNIE MCVOY TREON
