Marlene, Thank you for your prompt reply.Yes, I would very much appreciate your copy. It is my understanding that our Mcvity's were a border clan which were also known as riding clans and lowlanders. Also that the ones who ended up in Ireland were stragglers of the "Pretenders Army"which does fit the dates I have. The Ulster Plantation appears to be a settlement of Scots who were ousted and promised land in Ireland, obviously that didn't work out so well. It is also possible that Cromwell McVity is related to Oliver Cromwell
as is George Henry Graham McVity. The Cromwell first name didn't pass on thru the generations like John,Edward,William,Thomas and Arthur did.It could be too that Cromwell's parents were Oliver Cromwell sympathizers and thus named him after him as an honor. When I think of how elders were honored back then,I wonder if Cromwell named his first 2 children after his parents, their names were William and Elizabeth. I also find those repeated frequently thru our line. Thoughts are great...concrete proof is harder to come by. Again thank you for your help,Karen
