Hi again Eleanor;
I just caught my first breakthrough in more than 14 years on the search for my McVicar line.It's not much, but its a whole lot more than what I did have, so wanted to touch base.Previously, I had been searching in Saskatchewan and North Dakota for my McVicars, but I finally found my Great Grandmother Christina McVicar in the 1891 census for South Norfolk, MANITOBA.She was born in Ontario in about 1869, and lists her father as having been born in Scotland, and her mother in England.
It appears she would have been married to Charles Watson in about 1888.Her only child Mary was born in North Dakota in 1889.The family must have returned to Manitoba, where the Watson's lived by 1891.Christina died young, at age 25, in Manitoba.
Does any of this tie in to your McVicars at all?You mentioned that your line moved to Manitoba in this time frame, and that your Robert had a daughter Christina?Is it possible this could be the same Christina?
