Lt. Col. Duncan McVicar
My great-great grandfather, Duncan McVicar, was born in Bowmore Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland sometime around the late 1820s.He came to Canada with a military regiment and transferred to Kingston, Ontario where he met and married my great-great grandmother, Susan Mansfield Birmingham McVicar (her first husband was no relation to Duncan). They moved to Rochester NY in 1861 when he joined the Union Army (6th New York Cavalry).
I believe his mother was a Currie; her name was Isabella. She remarried at some point and had the name McMillan by the mid-1850s.I do not know his father's name or the names of any other relations.
If anyone can tell me more about his ancestry, I would appreciate it.
