Kathy, you may have found this info already but here it is again. Per the Madison Co., Alabama Marriage Licenses - 1809-1829, John McVay (born c. 1766) married Nancy Hughes on Nov. 21, 1818. John died c. 1841. Although we don't have final proof we think Nancy's maiden name was Scott and she was married to Thomas Hughes in Tennessee before she married John. Some sources in RootsWeb, etc., show Nancy married two other times after John's death: once to William Duke, then to John Haygood. Both of these marriages took place in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. I don't have any positive sources except for John's marriage.
