Hal, thank you for your response. The marriages & children you list should pertain to Hugh McVay III: According to the book "The Registers of North Farnham Parish 1663-1814 and Lunenburg Parish 1783-1900 Richmond County, Virginia" by George Harrison Sanford King, Fellow, american Society of Genealogists, Fredericksburg, VA 1966, page 125: (As pertains to issue of Hugh & Winnefred McVay) McVay, George son of Hugh and Winnefred McVay, 16 September, 1711; McVay, Hugh son of Hugh and Winnefred McVay, 29 April, 1713; McVay, Thomas son of Hugh and Winnefred McVay, 5 July, 1719; McVay, John son of Hugh and Winnefred McVay, 20 July, 1722. (As pertains to issue of Hugh & Ruth McVay) McVey, David son of Hugh and Ruth McVay, 20 January, 1744; McVey, Hugh son of Hugh and Ruth McVay, 9 May, 1747; McVey, John son of Hugh and Ruth McVay, 25 March, 1751. You note that the first Hugh was married to a "Farland" and Hugh, Jr. was married to a "Manning." Would appreciate knowing where documentation can be obtained to prove these maiden names. Am also interested as to whether Gwathmey took his information from a DAR application. Will check further to see what proof, if any, can be found to verify that Hugh McVay III was first married to Sarah Street. The LW&T of John Langston proves that Martha "Patta" Langston was the wife of Hugh McVay III. Will let you know what I find, if anything. Thanks, BETH Notify Administrator about this message?
